Has Congolese singer Werrason applied again for the national parliament? His name is listed as a candidate for the AFDC-A party of Modeste Bahati Lukwebo.
Without giving up his music career, artist Werrason is relaunching his political career. Singer Noël Ngiama Makanda, better known by his stage name Werrason, seems to have applied for the legislative elections in the DRC, just as he did in 2018.
Like wildfire, a list of candidates including his name has surfaced on social media. According to the list, Werrason is positioned in the Bulungu constituency in the Grand Bandundu region under the umbrella of the AFDC-A party led by Modeste Bahati Lukwebo.
A second attempt It’s a second chance for Werrason, who was already a candidate in the national legislative elections in 2018. The singer Werrason had submitted his candidacy in the Kimbaseke constituency, in the Tshangu district, southeast of Kinshasa. His objective in politics, he explained, is to change the lives of the people through favorable laws and other measures.
“For a decade now, both at the national and provincial levels of our Parliament, no law has been passed to improve the status of the Congolese artist who dies poor despite all his potential. The cultural sector is plagued by several problems that prevent us from evolving normally and representing our country on the international stage. It is unacceptable that a musician or actor cannot even sell 1 million copies of CDs or DVDs in a country of over 70 million inhabitants. All this is due to the extreme poverty that afflicts the population,” stated Noël Ngiama Makanda Werrason.
