The new Ambassador of Germany to Togo presented his letters of credence on Tuesday to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Togolese Abroad, Robert Dussey.
The diplomatic scene between Germany and Togo enters a new chapter with the appointment of Mr. Claudius Fischbach as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Togo. Succeeding Matthias Veltin, Mr. Fischbach presented his letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Togolese Abroad, Professor Robert Dussey, during an official ceremony in Lomé on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
During this meeting, the Togolese Minister expressed his satisfaction regarding the prospect of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The appointment of Mr. Claudius Fischbach is not coincidental but rather a result of a well-established diplomatic career. Prior to his current position in Lomé, Mr. Fischbach held several roles of responsibility. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the Head of the Division for Foreign Policy, Security, and Economic Cooperation, as well as the Head of Federal Press and Information.
Subsequently, from 2019 to 2020, he directed the Press and Communication Service at the German Embassy in Paris, France. His subsequent mandate led him to become the Ambassador of Germany to Mozambique from 2020 to 2023.
