It seems that Debordo Leekunfa is quite upset with his fellow musician colleagues. After his series of attacks against A’Salfo, the Coupé-Décalé singer has now turned his attention to Sidiki Diabaté, who is currently in Ivory Coast.
The Coupé-Décalé artist, Debordo Leekunfa, infamously took to social media last week to target the lead singer of the group Magic System. He mentioned in a video that A’Salfo had not treated him fairly, accusing his former mentor of using him to the extent that he did not end up among the Ivorian artists who were honored by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé for their contribution to the success of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The artist is still persistent in his clashes against his peers. After multiplying his attacks on A’Salfo across social media, Debordo Leekunfa has set his sights on the young Malian singer, Sidiki Diabaté. The latter is currently in Abidjan, where he took part over the weekend, along with other celebrities, in the 9th gala night of First Lady Dominique Ouattara’s Children of Africa Foundation at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire’s convention center in Cocody.
When an internet user pointed out in a comment to the Coupé-Décalé singer that the Malian prince of the Kora was by the lagoon shores of Ebrié, he replied with very harsh and insulting words against Sidiki Diabaté and even the entire people of Mali. “Mrs. Dominique Ouattara is like a mother to me. She has many children and loves everyone. Her heart is pure. She even brings the neighbor’s kids here so they can come and eat a little. Because in their country (Mali), there’s nothing left. People are starving. But we understand. An artist from their country comes to Ivory Coast for a little bit of nourishment. Then he goes back to report to his compatriots. He confirms to them that indeed in Ivory Coast, people take good care of each other. Besides, his entire family (Sidiki Diabaté’s) is here. His father, as well as his mother, they are all here. There is nothing left in their country. There is nothing in Mali. They are living in hardship,” he stated bluntly.
He continues to say: “Sidiki Diabaté comes here begging for money, he performed at Mrs. Dominique Ouattara’s event. That’s normal, because he is hungry. My mother is kind. She will give him something so he can eat a little. The rest he will give to his family in Mali and they will get by. There’s no water or electricity over there. It’s a precarious situation. So, we are their chiefs. Have you ever seen Debordo performing in Mali? It’s because they don’t have money. We receive them here, we give them money, and they leave. There’s no money over there. If Sidiki Diabaté wants, he can injure himself here, that’s his problem. One thing is certain, we are no longer ready for him. Nobody’s interested anymore. That’s it. When you see me, do you think he and I are the same thing? Witch doctors like that.” In a new post on his Facebook page this Monday, March 4th, Debordo Leekunfa lashed out at A’Salfo again, warning the rapper Didi B who met the lead vocalist of the Zouglou Magic System at the First Lady’s dinner gala.
