According to the facts, the tragedy occurred due to an alleged mistake by the nurse on duty, who accidentally wrapped the newborn in sheets intended for the laundry. While picking up the sheets, the nurse also picked up the newborn, and both the sheets and the baby were placed in a bag sent to the laundry. Unfortunately, the child reportedly died in the bag before being placed in the washing machine.
The baby, whose body was found in the washing machine, belongs to a Beninese couple living in Senegal. It is a premature baby girl born after 33 weeks of pregnancy and admitted to the neonatology department of Abass Ndao Hospital.
