End of mission for several Nigerien ambassadors. The National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP) has decided to recall them to the homeland. The announcement was made on Thursday, August 3rd, through a statement.

Niger, currently led by the ousters of Mohamed Bazoum, has decided to terminate the functions of four of its ambassadors. These ambassadors represent Niger in France, the United States, Nigeria, and Togo. The four diplomats have been asked to return to Niamey.

The reasons behind this decision by the coup leaders are not mentioned. However, it should be noted that some of the countries involved have taken a critical stance against the coup d’état in Niger.

Nigeria, currently holding the presidency of ECOWAS, was the first African country to condemn the coup. Tinubu expressed strong opposition to the removal of Mohamed Bazoum, which occurred just a few days after his warning against coups in the sub-region.

France and the USA have also protested against the coup d’état. They have demanded the release of Mohamed Bazoum and a return to constitutional order in the country.
