Bad news for Aïchatou Kane Boulama, the Nigerien Ambassador to France, who has been dismissed by the coup leaders. While she resists and rejects her dismissal, her son has just been arrested.

Idrissa Kane, the son of the former ambassador Aïchatou Kane Boulama and former Director General of the Niger Post, is no longer free to move. According to information reported by Nigerien journalist Samira Sabou, he was apprehended on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

The reasons for his arrest have not been revealed. However, it should be noted that the State company “Poste du Niger,” which Idrissa Kane was leading, underwent an audit that revealed irregularities.

For some observers, this arrest could be pressure on Aïchatou Kane Boulama, who refuses to leave her post and stands up to the junta. For now, she remains loyal to Mohamed Bazoum, with the support of France, which recognizes her as the only diplomatic representative of Niger in Paris.
