The senatorial elections are scheduled for September 16 in Côte d’Ivoire, as announced on August 1, 2023.
“The electoral colleges for the senatorial elections are convened on Saturday, September 16, 2023. The voting will begin at eight o’clock and close at five o’clock in the afternoon, allowing for nine hours of voting,” states the decree N°2023-673 of July 12, 2023, summoning the electoral colleges for the 2023 senatorial elections.
Furthermore, Article 3 of the decree stipulates that the President of the Independent Electoral Commission and the Minister of Interior and Security are respectively responsible for implementing the present decree, which will be published in the official journal of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Senate, which is the upper house of the Ivorian parliament, consists of 99 senators, two-thirds of whom are chosen through indirect universal suffrage. Additionally, the President of the Republic appoints the remaining one-third.
