Côte d’Ivoire: Emmanuelle Kéïta, host of the fashion show “Mood by EK,” took a swipe at Pitch from the Zouglou group VDA. The singer quickly fired back on social media.
Indeed, Emmanuelle Kéïta, who hosts the fashion show “Mood by EK” on NCI, frequently criticizes the fashion styles of many Ivorian celebrities. In the episode aired on Saturday, August 19, 2023, while having artist Gadji Céli as a guest on the show, she decided to take a jab at the Zouglou group VDA, specifically targeting Pitch, one of its members.
During the show, the Ivorian influencer pointed out that the outfit he was wearing reminded her of the attire commonly worn by traditional hunters from northern Côte d’Ivoire, known as “Dozo.”
The remarks made by the presenter were swiftly contested by Pitch in a social media post. “I know it’s a role they’ve given you on this show, but you should at least know how to distinguish things. Take a good look at the patterns of what I wore, if it resembles a Dozo outfit! These are purely African N’zassa patterns that celebrate Africa. If you’re ashamed of being African, well, I’m not,” he stated. He continued, “Look at all our music videos, we always showcase Africa in our various fashion styles because we are ambassadors of Africa. So, before criticizing, you should really look at what we wore next time.”
Jim’s colleague also challenged Emmanuelle Kéïta’s fashion expertise. Pitch also questioned whether the influencer received a fashion spellbook to criticize others’ fashion styles. “We also need to know where you got your highly professional stylist diploma from to come and criticize people. You’re not European yet, you’re still African, so you need to moderate a bit…” he concluded.
