The icon of music in Côte d’Ivoire, Meiway, is sharing his wisdom with the new wave of artists who struggle to maintain a sustainable career in the music industry.
Recently at the center of a heated debate on social media, Meiway continues to garner interest. In his latest statements, he addressed emerging artists by providing them sage advice, drawing from his own artistic journey. He believes that many talents of the current scene fail to solidify their presence after an initial successful album or single.
To conclude, the performer of the hit song “Miss Lolo” urged the younger artists to take the time to learn the profession. “Learn the profession, I learned the profession. That’s why, after so many years, I continue to practice it with passion and success. If you know the profession, you will succeed. But knowing it alone is not enough, you must also maintain it. You have to improve yourself with technological evolution, you have to adapt. Talent is the foundation and it must be polished,” he advises.
As a reminder, not long ago, the Ivorian singer Meiway sparked a major controversy on social media when he criticized the music of new revelations in Ivorian music. He had said that these artists like Manadja Confirmé, DJ Congélateur, and Bb Sans Os de Man, should not be invited overseas to represent Côte d’Ivoire.
