The State Protocol General Directorate has informed the Constitutional Bodies of the postponement of the inauguration ceremony of the bridge connecting the municipalities of Plateau and Cocody, following the death of Henri Konan Bédié.
According to the information note sent to BÉNIN WEB TV, this postponement is a result of the mourning period declared following the death of the former President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Henri Konan Bédié, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in Abidjan. The government has also declared a 10-day mourning period from August 2 to August 11, 2023, during which the flags of Côte d’Ivoire will be at half-mast throughout the national territory and in Ivorian diplomatic representations abroad.
As a reminder, the inauguration ceremony of the bridge, which connects the municipalities of Cocody and Plateau, measuring 630 meters in length with 200 meters of suspension spans, was scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 2023, in the presence of the head of state and several other dignitaries.
