Kouakou Kouassi Ezékiel, declared successful in the 2023 Baccalaureate (BAC) exams in Côte d’Ivoire, passed away following an illness after the announcement of the results on Monday, July 24, 2023, in the city of Séguéla.
The candidate, enrolled at Dominique Ouattara High School in Séguéla, was evacuated to the regional hospital because he had been experiencing stomach pain since Sunday, according to a source close to his parents. “On Monday, the BAC results were published. Ezékiel passed. Unfortunately, he passed away around 5 p.m.,” the source recounted.
However, the parents did not specify the true cause of his illness. It is worth noting that he is the second child in a family of six children.
As a reminder, 109,166 candidates were declared successful out of 340,213 present in the 551 BAC examination centers in Côte d’Ivoire, representing a national admission rate of 32.09% compared to 30.78% in 2022 and 29.24% in 2021. Additionally, the success rates are 98,295 successful candidates, representing 31.94% for the general Baccalaureate, 10,601 successful candidates, representing 32.97%, compared to 27.32% in 2022 for the technical Baccalaureate, and 271 successful candidates, representing 89.74% for the artistic Baccalaureate.
For the general Baccalaureate, the success rates are 47.97% for series A1, 26.88% for series A2, 72.33% for series C, and 35.97% for series D. By gender, there were 50,181 successful female candidates, representing 30.94%, and 58,985 successful male candidates, representing 33.13%, as specified by the DECO.
