On Thursday, August 17, 2023, Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, left the country for a visit to France.
Indeed, the Ivorian President departed from Abidjan for a stay in France. According to the statement, the presidency did not disclose the reasons for Alassane Ouattara’s visit to Emmanuel Macron’s country. However, this visit comes during a period of crisis in Niger, where ECOWAS is working to restore Mohamed Bazoum’s affairs.
As a reminder, President Ouattara, who has been heavily involved in the Niger crisis dossier, was accused by the coup plotters of advocating for a military intervention in Niger. Additionally, the head of state made a commitment to provide a battalion of nearly 850 soldiers to the Ivorian army.
According to ECOWAS, the only option to restore constitutional order will be the use of force.
