Fernand Lopez, the partner of famous Cameroonian singer Charlotte Dipanda, recently spoke out to address the accusations of domestic violence against him.

After making this humiliating statement, the husband of the Cameroonian singer finally broke his silence in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien. Fernand Lopez admitted to the incident and explained that he faced the consequences of his actions towards his ex-wife, Cécile Giornelli.
“One day, I made that gesture. The gesture that I regret the most in my entire life. I raised my hand against my former partner, a slap, it was a catastrophe! My actions are inexcusable. A human being, a man, should not raise his hand against a woman. It is unjustifiable to say anything. I went to the police station and admitted to slapping my wife. I’m not saying this to excuse what I did, but I experienced moments of anger in my relationship, which led my ex-partner to also lay her hands on me and on my eldest daughter, who is not her own,” explained Fernand Lopez.
It should be noted that after the incident, Fernand Lopez went to the police and received a five-month suspended sentence.
Several years after the incident, Charlotte Dipanda’s husband claims to have changed. “I am a different man. I work with foundations against domestic violence to try to educate people on preventing such violence. (…) I regret so much not having been able to leave the house that day. I hope that my words will help other women and men who have been through similar experiences,” he concluded.
