The Throne Day, a significant event in the Moroccan calendar, was celebrated with grandeur in Benin on July 30th last year. This celebration marked the 24th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty Mohammed V and provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of the relations between Benin and Morocco.

Sociopolitical actors, religious dignitaries, economic stakeholders, cultural and educational figures came together to celebrate this occasion. The Moroccan ambassador to Benin, Rachid Rguibi, emphasized during the ceremony that Benin and Morocco share a rich history and culture, which has strengthened their cooperation. This cooperation, based on friendship and solidarity, was highlighted by the active support of the Beninese people during Morocco’s performances in the World Cup in Qatar.

Ambassador Rguibi also underscored that the cooperation between the two countries has intensified since President Patrice Talon’s tenure. This cooperation encompasses the priorities set by the Beninese government’s Action Program, including sectors such as agriculture, arts, fishing, cybercrime prevention, education, vocational and technical training, and more.

Jean-Marie Erick Zinsou, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representative of the Minister, praised the quality of relations between the two countries. He highlighted that Morocco contributes significantly, particularly with the expertise of its institutions and national experts.

The Throne Day is an occasion for the King to reconnect with the historical bonds that unite him with his people. It is a moment of cohesion, where the Sovereign is celebrated by his subjects, and where the major State bodies pledge allegiance to the King. The highlight of this celebration is the royal speech delivered by His Majesty, sharing the Royal Vision for the major projects to be implemented.
