Burundi faces Cameroon next September in the context of the 6th matchday of the CAN 2023 qualifiers. A preliminary squad of 37 players has been selected for the occasion.
Just a few weeks remain, and football enthusiasts will soon be captivated by the CAN 2023 qualifiers. The sixth and final matchday of the qualifying rounds will take place in September. It’s the last opportunity to secure a ticket for the journey to Ivory Coast.
Among the matches, Burundi will challenge Cameroon on September 12th. Sitting in third place in Group C, tied on points with the Indomitable Lions, the Burundian national team will secure their ticket with a victory against Samuel Eto’o’s team. It’s a not-impossible mission for the Burundians, as they face the Cameroonian team coming off a defeat to Namibia (1-2) in the 5th match.
For this occasion, the national coach, Étienne Ndayiragije, has unveiled a preliminary squad of 37 players. The aim is to work with the group (most of whom play in the local league) over an extended period to finalize the definitive list. The training camp is set to begin next week. Players from other African clubs will join the group during the FIFA international break.
