A quartet of Egyptian referees has been selected to officiate the Mozambique vs. Benin match scheduled for September, as part of the 6th round of qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
In pursuit of the second ticket from Group L, which qualifies for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, set to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, Mozambique and Benin will face off on September 9th in Maputo. This match will be part of the sixth and final round of qualifiers for the continental tournament.
Following a draw against Senegal (1-1) in the previous round, the Guépards must secure a victory against the Mambas to secure their passage to the Ivorian soil. Currently second in the standings after a convincing win against Rwanda (2-0) last June, the Mozambican national team only requires a draw to earn their spot in this African gathering.
As the outcome of this clash awaits, CAF has designated the officials who will oversee the match. The organization has enlisted a quartet of Egyptian referees. Mohamed Adel Elsaid Hussien is the central referee set to officiate the match. Sami Mohamed Abouzid Malhal and Yousser Wahid Youssef will serve as the first and second assistants, respectively. Mahmoud Elbana is the fourth official for this encounter between the Mambas and the Guépards. As a reminder, the match is scheduled for September 9, 2023, at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo at 3:00 PM GMT.
