The CAF has revealed the identity of the referee who will officiate the match between Benin and Mozambique in September, in the qualifiers for the CAN 2023. The instance has chosen Egyptian referee Mohamed Abdel Elsaid Hussien.
It’s a final between two teams vying for the last qualifying spot for the CAN 2023 in Group L. Benin and Mozambique will face each other on September 9th in Maputo, in the sixth and final matchday of the continental tournament qualifiers. For this decisive clash, the Confederation of African Football has unveiled the identity of the officials who will be in charge of the match.
The African body has indeed selected Egyptian referee Mohamed Abdel Elsaid Hussien as the center referee. He will be assisted in his task by his compatriots Sami Mohamed Abouzid Halhal and Youssef Wahid Youssef Elbosaty, the first and second assistants, respectively. The fourth official is also Egyptian and his name is Mahmoud Elbana.
As a reminder, the Mozambique vs. Benin match will take place at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto. Sitting in second place in the standings with one point more than their Beninese opponents, the Mambas will only need a draw to secure their qualification. On the other hand, the Guépards need a victory to join the list of qualifiers.
But even more, this match represents a chance for the Benin team to take revenge on Mozambique. During the second matchday of the qualifiers, the Beninese suffered a home defeat with a score of 1-0. So, mark your calendars for a month from now!
