The Cameroon national team coach, Rigobert Song, unveiled his list of selected players for the upcoming match against Burundi in September, as part of the qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations. André Onana and Clinton N’jie are making their return to the squad.

Endless media speculations, along with the personal involvement of Paul Biya and his government, have finally borne fruit. André Onana is back in the den of the Indomitable Lions. The Cameroonian goalkeeper is included in the list of players called up by Rigobert Song for the sixth round of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, with the final tournament set to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Côte d’Ivoire.

In this list of 24 players announced on Tuesday by the Cameroon coach, there are also several returning players. This includes Clinton N’jie, Samuel Oum Gouet, Gaël Ondoua, and Harold Moukoudi, who are making their comeback to the national team. It’s also worth noting the first call-up for Régis François Mughe, the 19-year-old winger from Olympique de Marseille. However, there’s no place for Nicolas N’koulou, Martin Hongla, Jean Charles Castelleto, and Ignatius Ganago, who were not called up by Rigobert Song.

Second in Group C with 4 points, Cameroon is neck and neck with Burundi, who also have 4 points. A draw would secure the Indomitable Lions’ ticket for the journey to Ivory Coast.
