The music video for the official anthem of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was officially unveiled on Friday, December 1st.
Côte d’Ivoire will host the Africa Cup of Nations, the grand football event of Africa, from January 13th to February 11th, 2023. For this major event, an official anthem has been created by the Ivorian quartet Magic System, Nigerian singer Yemi Alade, and Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan.
After the official release of the song titled “Akwaba” on Tuesday, October 31st, the music video was unveiled on Friday, December 1st, 2023.
“Akwaba” is expected to ignite the African continent with an explosion of rhythms and melodies that embody the spirit of unity, passion, and celebration. The song is now available on all streaming platforms and promises to take us on an unforgettable musical journey,” explained CAF in a statement.
It should be noted that “Akwaba” means “Welcome” in an Ivorian language. In other words, this anthem will welcome the participants of this grand event to Ivorian soil.
As a reminder, the song was even performed during the draw ceremony for the final phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which took place in October in Abidjan.
