The famous Ivorian influencer, blogger, and singer Apoutchou National has recently caught the internet’s attention with a bold statement.
Last Monday, February 5, he shared with his loyal followers his belief that he played a pivotal role in rallying supporters during the recent Africa Cup of Nations, an event widely celebrated in his homeland.
During a show on the Nouvelle Chaîne Ivoirienne (NCI), Apoutchou claimed that his popularity was a key factor in ensuring a massive turnout in the sporting arenas. “At the start of the tournament, stadiums were only filled to 20%, for instance only 4,000 people in a stadium with 20,000 seats. It’s thanks to me that the stadiums are now full. Since my live broadcast, Ivorians decided to go to the stadium,” the son of Ivorian actress Bleu Brigitte said.
However, the blogger’s statement did not sit well with everyone online. Some netizens believe that the artist, who was recently featured at the Palace of Culture, should not take credit for this success. “We go to the stadium because we love our country and want to promote our image in the world. It’s not at all thanks to you,” an internet user retorted.
