On Sunday, August 6, 2023, Alassane Ouattara, the President of Ivory Coast, declared that his country would be ready to host the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) from January 13, 2024, during his speech on the eve of Independence Day.
In his message on the eve of the 63rd anniversary of Ivory Coast, President Ouattara emphasized that “with the legendary hospitality of our fellow citizens,” he is convinced that Ivory Coast will offer the world the best in terms of hospitality, cultural assets, and tourism. “I congratulate Prime Minister Patrick Achi and the Government for the quality of the infrastructure. I also extend this to all national and international partners who contribute to the fulfillment of our commitments for the successful organization of this CAN,” he added.
He also reassured the Ivorian footballers by offering the government’s support. “I want to assure you of my support, the support of the government, and all Ivorians. You will play under the most optimal conditions during this home CAN. Make our compatriots even prouder with your performances!” he said.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic expressed his joy at the progress of the 19th edition of the World Basketball Championship from August 25 to September 10, 2023. “I would like to congratulate our Elephant basketball players, who have brilliantly qualified for this prestigious competition, during which, as usual, they will proudly defend the Ivorian flag,” invited Alassane Ouattara.
