During the trial that culminated in a verdict on Thursday, August 17, 2023, Vincent Dabilgou, former Minister of Transportation under President Roch Kaboré, was found guilty of clandestine financing of political parties, money laundering, and misappropriation of public funds.
According to the source Faso7, Vincent Dabilgou was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the court, including 7 years of firm imprisonment for his involvement in the illegal financing of a political party. The former Minister of Transportation was also ordered to pay a substantial fine of “three billion three hundred seventy-five million eight hundred fifty-eight thousand four hundred sixty-two (3,375,858,462) CFA francs.”
Following his conviction, the political activities of the New Time for Democracy (NTD) party, led by Vincent Dabilgou, have been suspended for 5 years. This decision aims to prevent any political intervention during this critical period.
Furthermore, Vincent Dabilgou and six other individuals involved in the charges were linked to illegal activities involving diverting public funds to finance a political party and money laundering.
