Massive damage caused by torrential rains in the Alibori department, Kandi commune. Initial assessments indicate that houses and fields have been destroyed by the force of the water.
The populations of the Kassako district in the Alibori Department are already under the grip of floods. The situation is concerning just a few days after the start of the rains. According to Bip Fm, nearly forty houses have been washed away by the water.
This disaster has left several dozen households homeless. The district police station has not escaped the tragedy either. The premises housing the Republic’s police officers have also suffered the consequences of the flooding.
In living memory, the district chief says he has never seen such a disaster. While awaiting a definitive solution, the victims are being accommodated with the help of goodwill individuals, and others have taken refuge in the district’s classrooms.
