Fulbert Dedegbé is no longer the director of the Parakou Civil Prison. He has been replaced by a new official following an escape that occurred on the night of September 6th to 7th, 2023.
The escape of 5 inmates from the Parakou Civil Prison led to the dismissal of the director of this correctional facility, as reported by Radio Fraternité. The same source also indicated that the head of the prison guards was also dismissed on Monday.
Of the 5 escaped inmates, 2 have already been apprehended. The other 3 are still at large and the subject of an active search.
The Benin Correction Agency remains very strict in handling escape cases. When such situations occur, they result in the dismissal and arrest of those responsible at the time of the incident.
