About ten individuals have temporarily lost their freedom in a case involving the misappropriation of funds from a sand quarry operation in Ouidah.

Under custody for a few days, the individuals implicated in the misappropriation of funds from the sand quarry operation in Ouidah were brought before the Republic’s prosecutor on Wednesday, August 30th, and subsequently placed in prison.

According to reports, a total of 13 people have been held in provisional detention after being presented to the prosecutor among about twenty individuals mentioned in this case.

Aside from the 13 individuals held in provisional detention, two quarry supervisors are under summons, and one collecting agent is on the run and being sought in connection with this case.

Rumors suggest that it’s this sand quarry case in Ouidah that led to the dismissal of the former executive secretary of the municipality, Afizou Mama-Sanni.

The individuals implicated in this case are being pursued for alleged embezzlement of funds, and their trial is scheduled for October 10th.
