The weekly meeting of the Beninese government’s members was held this Wednesday, February 14, 2024. During this session, chaired by the President of the Republic, Patrice Athanase Guillaume Talon, numerous subjects were discussed. Here is the full report.
The following decisions were made:
Regulatory Measures.
Regarding these measures, the decree amending the one related to the creation, responsibilities, and composition of the Preparatory Committee for the International Museum of Vodun was adopted.
Communications.
II-1. Approval under the Investment Code.
Six companies are affected by these incentive measures of the Investment Code.
For the specific investment regime, the following are concerned:
BENINESE DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE COMPANY (SBIN) SA, for the project of deploying its communication network throughout the national territory to provide a stable and reliable internet connection;
BENIN TERMINAL SA, for its project of development and operation of a specialized container terminal at the Autonomous Port of Cotonou.
The following companies will benefit from the B regime:
SOCIETE PROFILES ALUMINIUM (SOPAL) SARL, for the installation and operation of an aluminum profile manufacturing unit at Hounsagoudo, in the municipality of Zè;
BIOLYNX PHARMA SAS, for its project to produce medical solutions and consumables, in the Sèmè-Podji Industrial Zone;
BINGBEN INDUSTRIES SA, for the installation of a unit for the production of timber, furnishings and special coatings, in the Sèmè-Podji Industrial Zone;
NEW VISION GROUP SA, for the manufacturing of solar and non-solar school bags, sanitary napkins, and school uniforms, in the municipality of Lokossa.
The projects led by these various companies will generate more than a thousand jobs while strengthening the national economic fabric.
II-2. Complete project management mission within the framework of setting up ophthalmology centers of excellence in various hospital establishments.
These infrastructures are planned to be set up at the Hubert Koutougou MAGA National University Hospital Center, in the departmental university hospital centers of Ouémé and Borgou, as well as at the University Hospital Center of the Cotonou 2 and 3 health zone.
They contribute to the modernization of the technical platform and provide a solution to optimize material, financial, and human resources. Likewise, their realization will increase the quality of care services offered to the population by facilitating, among other things, referrals and counter-referrals.
That is why the Council has authorized contracting with a specialized firm to carry out, in particular, architectural design studies, environmental and social impact studies, as well as the supervision and control of the construction work.
International Meetings and Events.
Under this section, Benin has been authorized to participate, from March 10 to 17, 2024, in New York, United States of America, in the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
