From August 31st to September 3rd, 2023, Patrice Talon will undertake a state visit to China. This diplomatic outing is motivated by an invitation from Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the established agenda, on the morning of Friday, September 1st, 2023, the Beninese Head of State will hold discussions with the President of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Leji Zhao, and the Premier of the State Council, Qiang LI. After these meetings, Patrice Talon will lay a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes at Tian’anmen Square.
Exchange with Xi Jinping In the afternoon of Friday, September 1st, the Great Hall of the People in Beijing will welcome the Benin President. He will be received by his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping. On the agenda of their discussions will be a review of Sino-Beninese cooperation. This meeting, attended by certain aides of the two presidents, will conclude with the signing of several agreements.
Moreover, the Benin President will participate in the opening ceremony of the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services. He will also visit the headquarters of the China-Africa Development Fund and several Chinese companies.
