The Beninese president flew to Abuja on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, as reported by Bip fm.
At the moment, the reasons for this trip are not yet known. However, the visit coincides with the ongoing coup attempt in Niger. The actions of the military have already been condemned by ECOWAS, led by Bola Tinubu (President of Nigeria).
Patrice Talon was recently chosen to engage in dialogue with the leaders of countries at odds with ECOWAS. These countries include Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea, all of which are currently led by military rulers. The Beninese president is heading a team composed of Mohamed Bazoum and Umaro Sissoco Embalo.
