On Friday, July 14, 2023, a simple but significant ceremony marked the official installation of the members of the Board of Directors (CA) of the National Agency for Personal Identification (ANIP). The ceremony took place at the Anip premises in Kouhounou, under the direction of the Minister of State, Secretary General to the Presidency of the Republic, Pascal Irenée Koupaki.
Seven people were officially installed in their positions, in accordance with Decree N° 2023-218 of April 26, 2023. Among them are representatives from the Presidency of the Republic, several ministries, and the Agency for Information Systems and Digital.
These are Claude Cocou Olympio, representative of the Presidency of the Republic; Marius Abdon Mikpon’ai, representative of the Ministry of Interior and Public Security; Jacques Richard Codjo, representative of the Ministry of Justice and Legislation; Ghislaine Kpossa, representative of the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Governance; Rodrigue Chaou, representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance; Hector Agbo, representative of the Ministry of Digital and Digitalization and finally Marc André Loko, representative of the Agency for Information Systems and Digital.
The Director General of ANIP, Pascal Nyamulinda, highlighted the importance of this installation, which comes at a time when the government of Benin is embarking on a new era of modernization of the unique biometric identification system. He emphasized the central role of ANIP in this ecosystem and expressed his eagerness to work towards the realization of ANIP’s objectives, in line with the government’s vision.
The Minister of State, Pascal Irenée Koupaki, highlighted the importance of adhering to the texts establishing ANIP to ensure the continuity of public service. He also gave advice to the members of the Board of Directors to achieve the objectives set for ANIP for sustainable development in Benin.
The new Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANIP, Rodrigue Chaou, expressed his gratitude to President Patrice Talon and his government for the trust placed in them. He also thanked the Mandate Manager for the work accomplished during his term. He assured that the new CA will fulfill its mission according to the rules of the art.
It should be noted that the term of office of the members of the ANIP’s CA is three years, renewable, and begins from the date of their installation. This installation marks an important step in the modernization of biometric identification in Benin.
