Only three months after its installation, Victor Fatindé, president of the Special Court for Land Affairs, already has more than 8000 cases to manage.
No time for the judges of the Special Court for Land Affairs. They have barely been installed and have already inherited several hundred cases. According to the figures provided by the president of this court and the director general of the National Agency for Domain and Land Affairs (ANDF), more than 8000 cases have already been assigned to this specialized jurisdiction to handle land-related offenses.
Territorially competent in regions with high land disputes such as Abomey-Calavi, Allada, Cotonou, Ouidah, Porto-Novo, Sèmè-Podji, and Tori-Bossito, the Special Court for Land Affairs has jurisdiction over real estate actions and actions related to expropriation for public utility purposes, with the exception of disputes related to administrative acts concerning land, which fall under the jurisdiction of the administrative court.
