After an initial presentation to the prosecutor, the young woman returned to her cell. Her custody has been extended until Thursday, August 23, 2023.
At 17 years old, the suspected perpetrator is believed to have acted out of jealousy. According to testimonies, her co-wife was returning to the household after being expelled by their husband. She likely did not orchestrate this return.
The girl was reported missing on Wednesday, August 16, and her lifeless body was discovered the following day, Thursday, August 17. The stepmother of the victim, the primary suspect, did not resist interrogation for long. She confessed to throwing the girl into the 57-meter well.
