A new terrorist attack resulted in casualties in the northern region during the night of Thursday, September 14th to Friday, September 15th, 2023.
The Pendjari Park was the target of a terrorist attack. The toll includes three deaths (two soldiers and a ranger). According to Libre Express, unidentified armed individuals attacked a position of rangers from the African Parks Network in the park.
The attack prompted the Defense and Security Forces to react, but unfortunately, two of their comrades lost their lives. The attack occurred in the Dassari – Porga area.
This area has been a target of terrorists in northern Benin for several years. It’s not the first time they have operated in this area.
The presence of terrorists in this part of the country has led to the temporary suspension of tourist activities in Pendjari Park. Security has also been strengthened with a significant deployment of the Defense and Security Forces.
