In the financial mismanagement case rocking the Ouidah regional branch of the National Road Safety Center (CNSR), two individuals were sent to prison on Monday, September 28th.

The head of the Ouidah branch of the National Road Safety Center and the cashier of this organization are no longer at liberty. They were arrested on Thursday, September 14th, and questioned by the economic and financial brigade. They were presented to the special prosecutor of the court for the repression of economic offenses and terrorism on Monday, who decided to place them in preventive detention.

The two CNSR employees are allegedly involved in a embezzlement case of nearly 50 million CFA francs.

In the context of this embezzlement case involving public funds, several other employees of the organization were summoned by the Economic and Financial Brigade on Monday before also being brought before the special prosecutor of the CRIET. These include the head of the administrative and financial department, the head of internal audit, the head of the Tangbo branch, and other employees of the organization. After being questioned by the prosecutor, they were all placed under summons.

This financial mismanagement case came to light following a complaint from the director of the National Road Safety Center, who noticed irregularities in the financial management at the Ouidah regional branch of the CNSR.
