On the night of Tuesday, September 5, to Wednesday, September 6, 2023, an unfortunate incident occurred in Malanville, a commune located in northern Benin. It involved the burglary of the “Chosen of God” church situated in the Tassi-Tédji neighborhood.
According to information reported by the local radio station Sota FM, unidentified individuals forcibly entered the pastor’s office. This act of vandalism was discovered by the parishioners the following morning when they arrived at the church for the morning prayer.
The burglars made off with various valuable items that were present in the church premises. Among the stolen items were a solar battery, essential for powering the church, a water pump used for water supply, mats used by the faithful during prayer times, and two boxes of tiles.
The total value of the missing items is estimated to be around 400,000 CFA francs. This burglary has caused great distress among members of the religious community, who are wondering who could have committed this act and for what purpose.
The police have been informed of the incident and have launched an investigation to apprehend the culprits. The “Chosen of God” church members hope that the perpetrators of this theft will be swiftly apprehended, and the stolen items can be recovered.
