On the morning of Monday, July 31, 2023, three individuals fell victim to mob justice in a locality in the Mono department.

According to a source from BENIN WEB TV, which reported the information on-site, the three unidentified individuals were burned alive along with motorcycles, which presumably served as their means of transportation. The images of the scene are distressing and bear witness to the violence the victims endured.

In Benin, mob justice has unfortunately become a habitual occurrence among the population. It has almost become the first reaction in cases of theft and reprehensible acts. Sadly, innocent individuals sometimes become victims of this phenomenon. This was the case of the young student Éloi Dogo, who was mistaken for a thief and killed in Parakou.

Although this phenomenon is denounced and fought against, it persists, reflecting the mistrust of certain populations towards the regular justice system.
