An ill-intentioned individual scammed more than three million FCFA from an internet user in the name of the former captain of the Togolese national team, Emmanuel Adebayor.

An internet user reported being scammed out of 3 million FCFA due to Adebayor Sheyi, whose identity was impersonated. According to Burkinabé Konaté Maruce, he makes a living by transporting goods with his truck. As a huge fan of Emmanuel Adebayor, he had Adebayor’s portrait drawn on his truck.

“My name is Konaté Maruce, I am Burkinabé, but I reside in Abidjan. I am a truck driver. Adebayor Sheyi is my idol, I had Adebayor’s image drawn on my truck because I love him so much,” he said.

A request to Adebayor According to him, one day, he was contacted by an individual who identified himself as Adebayor Sheyi. “One day, I received a message claiming to be Adebayor and saying that he liked what I did and wanted to help me. The person pretending to be my idol asked how much I had, and offered to add more and buy me another truck. I said I wasn’t in good shape, but I managed to get 3 million. I was given a number, and I sent the money,” he explained.

But a few minutes after sending the three million, his contact blocked him and has not been reachable since. “I feel really bad because I borrowed the money. I’m coming here so that maybe my idol can see this. If he sees it, even if he doesn’t give me the money, I will be happy to see him. As for the person who scammed me, I leave him to my God. Be blessed,” he wished.
