This Saturday, April 20, 2024, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is slated for an official visit to Banjul, the capital of Gambia. This was announced by the presidential office in Dakar.
In his second official trip abroad, Mr. Faye will meet his Gambian counterpart, Adama Barrow. During this high-level encounter, discussions will focus on bilateral relations between the two nations as well as various regional interests.
“The President of the Republic will go to the Republic of Gambia to meet his brother, President Adama BARROW, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, to consolidate the ties of kinship and cooperation that unite the two countries,” declared the Senegalese presidency without further details. “The Head of State also plans to visit his other counterparts from neighboring countries and then the sub-region,” emphasized the presidency’s statement.
It is worth recalling that President Adama Barrow was among the first leaders to congratulate Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election as the head of Senegal. The Gambian Head of State had even made the trip on April 2 to attend the inauguration ceremony of the former secretary of Pastef Les Patriotes.
