After his team’s defeat to FC Barcelona (3-0) in Dallas on Saturday evening, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti assessed his players’ performance in the press conference.
For the second consecutive year, Real Madrid faced FC Barcelona in a friendly match in the United States. In a game held in Dallas, the Merengue were beaten with a score of 3-0, with goals from Ousmane Dembélé, Femi Lopez, and Ferran Torres. After the match, coach Carlo Ancelotti faced the press. He particularly commented on the lack of efficiency from his attackers, who hit the crossbar on five occasions.
“It was a good match, and we played well. We had opportunities and showed a lot of mobility. The negative aspect is the result. We were not good when the game stopped; we were too offensive and not well-balanced. It’s a painful result, but I’ll focus on the positives. We had chances. Hitting the crossbar five times, it has never happened to me. It’s better that it happens during preseason (laughs),” said the Italian technician, as reported by Real France.
He added, “It seemed like there was a wall in Barcelona’s goal. It’s a new team, and we need to adapt, but we played a good game. We must continue. Despite not having a fixed number 9, our players are positioning themselves well in front, and that’s positive.”
Real Madrid will resume official competition on August 12th, with a match against Bilbao on the first day of La Liga. The Madrid team will need to be much more efficient to avoid starting the new season with a defeat.
