Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, presented his country’s proposal for a lasting peace agreement with Armenia during a session of the UN Security Council.
During a session of the UN Security Council, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reiterated his country’s proposal to Armenia for a durable and just peace agreement between the two nations.
Bayramov emphasized that the anti-terrorism operation carried out in Karabakh had taken place on Azerbaijani territory in full compliance with international and humanitarian law. He stated that this operation was now completed, and efforts were underway to integrate Armenians in Karabakh. Azerbaijani officials and representatives of the Armenian population met in the town of Levlakh.
The Azerbaijani minister insisted that the anti-terrorism operation had been conducted in a “limited and proportionate” manner and aimed only at illegal armed forces on Azerbaijani territory. He affirmed that Azerbaijan was ready for genuine dialogue and negotiations based on mutual respect for legitimate interests.
Bayramov stated, “We once again present to Armenia our proposal for a just and lasting peace.” He also emphasized that the Armenians of Karabakh were part of his country’s coexistence model.
Recall that on September 19, 2023, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the launch of an anti-terrorism operation “to establish constitutional order in the Karabakh region.” On Wednesday, an agreement was reached for Baku to cease its anti-terrorism operations in Karabakh and for the disarmament of Armenian forces in the region.
