Following the exceptional measure of lifting the ban on cereal exports, Burkina Faso has translated its words into action by sending several food trucks to Niger. The operation was expertly carried out by the Nigerien Armed Forces.
More than 300 trucks loaded with food have been convoyed from Burkina Faso to Niger. Deprived of electricity and sustenance, the Nigeriens can now rely on Burkina Faso to come to their rescue, even if only temporarily.
Stretching over several kilometers from Dori (Burkina Faso), the convoy of trucks transporting the food was closely monitored by the Defense and Security Forces (Fds) of Niger. An impressive human and material deployment that successfully delivered the provisions to their destination.
It’s important to recall that due to the closure of borders following the coup d’état on July 26, goods destined for the Nigerien markets are stranded. At the Benin-Niger border, one can find hundreds of parked trucks. Unfortunately, they are unable to cross the border due to the ECOWAS sanctions that demand the reinstallation of Mohamed Bazoum.
