Algeria – China: Abdelmadjid Tebboune has embarked on an official five-day visit to Beijing, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This visit marks the first meeting between the two leaders since Tebboune assumed the presidency of Algeria in 2019.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has begun his first official visit to China since taking office in 2019. His arrival in Beijing follows an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit, expected to last five days, provides an opportunity for the two leaders to strengthen contacts and bilateral relations between Algeria and China.
China, pleased with this visit, seeks to expand bilateral cooperation with Algeria and deepen mutual trust between the two countries. This visit holds particular significance as it comes after the signing of a five-year strategic agreement between Algeria and China last November, underscoring the commitment of both countries to strengthen their ties.
Since 2014, China and Algeria have elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, making Algeria the first Arab country to establish such a level of partnership with the Middle Kingdom. Bilateral exchanges between the two countries reach an annual volume of approximately $7 billion, highlighting the growing importance of economic relations between the two nations.
