In a recent media appearance, the former Senegalese football star, El Hadji Diouf, offered some harsh criticism of Cameroon, stirring controversy. In response to these unflattering remarks, the renowned Cameroonian artist Lady Ponce swiftly countered with strong disapproval and openly expressed her dissatisfaction.
During his appearance on the show “Tout Pour La CAN,” broadcast on Canal+, the ex-icon of the Teranga Lions, El Hadji Diouf, pulled no punches in his critique of Cameroon. “Cameroon thinks it’s the whole continent. But it’s more like the hotel continental because they’re resting on their laurels. Cameroon has regressed a lot. Today I feel bad for the Cameroonian supporters. They are resting on their past and it’s sad […] Today the real problem of Cameroon is not on the pitch, it’s a management problem…“, the former Senegalese player remarked.
El Hadji Diouf’s recent statements have sparked a vehement response from Cameroonian singer Lady Ponce. Deeply upset, she voiced her discontent on her Facebook page, directly targeting Diouf’s comments. “Who is he, please? Excuse me, I don’t really remember him, is now everybody talking bad about our continent? We have 5 stars! What trophy does this man have with his national team? So little supposed ill-bred, jealous, sickly, and ruined, there can be times of rebuilding for every team, including for the very best which is ours. So, to reduce our country to a hotel is disrespectful. You could have limited yourself to the performance of our players without reducing our country to a hotel. For your information, we won our last two African Cup of Nations after beating Senegal. So, little pretentious ill-bred, jealous, sickly, and ruined, go elsewhere. We are not in the same category,” she retorted.
