The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has recently faced sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following incidents that occurred during the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), hosted by Ivory Coast.
The CAN 2023 concluded on February 11, 2024, shortly followed by the announcement of disciplinary sanctions against several guilty parties. The FIF is among them due to notable unrest that took place during the quarter-final match between Ivory Coast and Mali.
Upon reviewing the events, the CAF, through its Disciplinary Council, ruled on the inappropriate behavior of the Ivorian players on the field. Consequently, the FIF was found guilty of misconduct and fined 5,000 US dollars. The decision emphasizes the confederation’s strict stance on disciplinary regulations.
