On Saturday, August 19, 2023, a tragic accident occurred in Nioulé, located 15 km from Guiglo. In broad daylight, two mini-buses for public transportation collided.
Indeed, eyewitnesses reported that the two vehicles were coming from Bloléquin and heading towards Guiglo. The driver of the second minibus attempted to overtake but lost control and collided with the first minibus.
Eleven people were involved in the accident, with most of them sustaining minor injuries. However, a pregnant woman and a nine-month-old baby are in critical condition. Civil firefighters from Cavally provided care for all the victims and transferred them to the Regional Hospital Center in Guiglo.
However, it’s important to highlight that these incidents underscore the dangers of the road and the importance of respecting speed limits. In order to enforce this, the Special Technical Commission for Suspension and Withdrawal of Ivorian Driver’s Licenses has revoked 35 driving licenses in this month of August.
