On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, a grand ceremony was organized to present Mamadou Touré, the candidate of RHDP, in Haut Sassandra, Côte d’Ivoire. During this ceremony, Minister Anne Ouloto publicly mocked Stéphane Kipré, the candidate of PPA-CI.
Indeed, the Minister of Public Service expressed her regret that Stéphane Kipré immediately gave up on the regional elections in Haut Sassandra. She said, “(…) At the beginning of the campaign in Haut Sassandra, I was afraid. Then I was told that two people joined forces against Touré Mamadou. I thought there would be a match between two young people and each would come to defend their position. But one person, without even going anywhere, throws in the towel and comes to stand behind ‘the old man’ and says, ‘I will support you.’ That’s not what it’s about,” Anne Ouloto confided.
“Here comes Touré, and you throw in the towel! That means the people of Haut Sassandra have sent a strong message without even speaking. He saw in the eyes of the people that they know where they are going and know what they want,” she added. She then emphasized the importance of the residents of Haut Sassandra choosing a regional president who is close to them. She believes that the best choice is Touré Mamadou. “When someone is good, you have to acknowledge that they are good!” she praised.
As a reminder, the upcoming municipal and regional elections in Côte d’Ivoire will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023. The favorite candidate of PPA-CI, Stéphane Kipré, has decided to withdraw and support the candidate of PDCI, Alphonse Djédjé Mady.
