As the sole representative from Benin, CEG Sainte Rita will also be in Rabat, where the School Football World Cup will be held. The global tournament will take place from July 22nd to 31st, 2023 in the Moroccan capital. The Beninese delegation departed from Cotonou to the Kingdom of Morocco in the early morning of Thursday, July 20th, according to information from journalist Roméo Aklozo.
The school team, known as the “Guépards” (Cheetahs), is placed in Group C along with the host team, Morocco, as well as England and Mexico. It’s a challenging group for the Beninese school team, who aim to replicate their success from the discipline’s African Cup of Nations (CAN) campaign in South Africa, where they reached the semi-finals. It is worth noting that Guinea, Kenya, and Libya are the other African teams participating in this School World Cup.
