Benin clinched the bronze medal at the 2023 UFOA B U20 Cup after their victory over Togo (2-0) in the classification match held in Abidjan on Thursday.
It is ultimately Benin that will join Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso on the podium of the second edition of the UFOA B U20 tournament held in Abidjan. The junior Cheetahs secured the bronze medal in the competition with their victory over Togo on Thursday. In an entertaining match that determined the classification, the Beninese team emerged victorious with a score of 2-0.
After a tight first half against the Sparrowhawks, the Benin U20 team broke the deadlock in the second half. Implementing the instructions received during the halftime break, the young players scored through Bienvenu Vignonou and Gabriel Mouleiro. Vignonou opened the scoring in the 55th minute, while Mouleiro sealed the match in the final quarter of an hour.
Benin thus secured the third place on the podium in this second edition of the UFOA B Cup. It was an encouraging performance by the Cheetahs, although the people of Benin would have hoped for their young ambassadors to return to Cotonou with the trophy after falling short in the previous edition’s final against Nigeria (1-3).
