Facing the Burkina Faso junior team in a match held at the Robert Champroux Stadium in Abidjan, the Elephants emerged victorious with a score of 2-1. It was a sweet revenge for the host country, as they had been defeated by Burkina Faso in the opening match.
In a hard-fought encounter, the Ivorians defeated their opponents with goals from Oumar Konaté (penalty) and Junior Bandama. Despite Burkina Faso’s efforts to equalize, Côte d’Ivoire managed to maintain their advantage until the end of the match, securing their first title in this West African tournament.
The Burkina Faso team will console themselves with the silver medal, while the Bronze goes to the Benin Cheetahs, who defeated the Togo Sparrowhawks (2-0) in the classification match.
