Heavily desired by Erik ten Hag, André Onana leaves Inter Milan for Manchester United. The Manchester club had to wait before finalizing the deal, but it’s now done, as the Red Devils officially announced on Thursday through a statement.
“Andre Onana has joined Manchester United on a contract until June 2028, with an option for an additional year,” the club statement explains. After several weeks of negotiations with Inter Milan, the Red Devils have finally found the successor to David De Gea, who left the club this summer after 12 seasons and over 500 matches played.
This transfer also demonstrates the club’s confidence in their coach, Erik ten Hag. The owners had promised the Dutchman to do everything to bring André Onana to him. Now, it’s up to the Cameroonian to prove himself wearing the Manchester United shirt. And he already has considerable experience to handle the challenging task ahead.
“The Cameroonian goalkeeper kept 104 clean sheets in 255 club appearances. He won three league titles and two KNVB Cups with Ajax before joining Inter in 2022. Last season, he won the Coppa Italia and recorded the most clean sheets in the Champions League,” Manchester United’s statement specified.
