More and more, visa applicants for France complain about unjustified rejections. In an interview with Bip radio, the Ambassador of France to Benin mentioned three reasons that can explain the refusal of a visa to an applicant.

According to Marc Vizy, there are generally three reasons behind the rejection of visa applications for France. Firstly, the diplomat mentions the case of incomplete files. Many applicants, he says, receive a refusal because they submit incomplete documents.

Secondly, France rejects visa applications from people who do not sufficiently prove that they have the necessary resources to cope with the cost of living in France. “We do not want people to come to France who will ultimately be unhappy because they do not have the means to live properly there,” said Marc Vizy.

The third reason mentioned is based on suspicions. According to the ambassador, there are applicants who do not provide enough guarantee that they will return to their countries upon the expiration of the visa. “There are refusals that we make because we have strong suspicions that the person does not intend to return and may stay in France in conditions where it will be difficult for us to accommodate them,” he said.

17,500 visa applications recorded in 2022 According to figures provided by the Ambassador of France to Benin, the Consulate recorded 17,500 visa applications in 2022. 75% of the applicants received a positive response, while 25% received an unfavorable decision.
